cdbc6ffbb8 tests: Increase verbosity in *_test.in checks 
In this case it does not hurt to increase bash execution verbosity so
we can get more insight in case of issues.

6d6b95720c tests: Add serial_test 
This test is meant to test output via various serial devices. Currently,
only the PCI serial device is tested.
